Warm Up America looks to be a wonderful charity that I hope I can contribute to this winter. Hand knit or crochetted blankets are made from donated knit or crochetted rectangles that are then sewn into blankets and given to different charities. The above blanket was made from squares (not by me). The link below gives correct dimentions and patterns for the required rectangles and where to send them. Also, there are local groups meeting to make the rectangles and assemble the blankets. Michael's is hosting classes and collecting rectangle contributions throughout the year and students from their classes and some from the community will be sewing them together.
